about

Each year I record a musical greeting for the Lent/Easter season. This is 2012's greeting. I hope you enjoy it.

Original music by Griffith H. Jones 1849-1919.
Arrangement by Daniel J Snoke, Copyright 2012.

First two verse lyrics from Psalm 86:1-11 from the 1912 Psalter, and last two from Lift Up Your Voices Now, by John M. Neale (1854).

Instruments include a Lowrey organ, guitar, snare, bass drum, tambourine and vocals.

lyrics

Bow down Thine ear, O Lord, and hear,
For I am poor and great my need;
Preserve my soul, for Thee I fear;
O God, Thy trusting servant heed.

For Thou, O Lord, art good and kind,
And ready to forgive Thou art;
Abundant mercy they shall find
Who call on Thee with all their heart.

Lift up, lift up your voices now
He binds in chains the ancient foe
Now heaven's portal open flys
For Christ has risen and man shall rise.

O Victor, aid us in the fight,
And lead through death to realms of light;
We safely pass where Thou hast trod;
In Thee we die to rise to God.
